YOUTH MEDIA BRIGADE
CNS is focused on training Latinx youth in multimedia storytelling and developing/implementing a workforce development strategy that will bridge the Latinx youth media gap and empower them to make a living telling the stories of their community.
Creating new opportunities for young people to explore and find connections to their community through the art of the documentary.
Developing new opportunities that enhance and support young people’s mental health and wellness; and
Expanding of new "third spaces" and places (outside school/work and home) where young people feel safe, welcome, and supported
Offering cultural visibility of the Latinx community in Durham.
Create an apprenticeship for Latino/youth of color to train in sustainable documentary work that is community centered and non-extractive.
Expanding the definition of “documentary”.
Incubating and showcase multimedia media created by youth through exhibits and screenings and community centered events
Collaborating with other institutions that need media creation
Offering a community centered workforce development model for Youth that will bridge the media gap and empower them to make a living through their art.
