THE CENTER FOR
THE NUEVO SOUTH

was conceived more than 20 years ago  as a way to address the cultural and media gap challenges created by the Great Latino Migration to the American South. It was founded by visual storyteller Rodrigo Dorfman who has been working as a migrant cultural worker in the American South for the past 25 years.

The Center for the Nuevo South is a collaborative of cultural workers dedicated to preserving and documenting the living history of the Latinx experience in the South, and to supporting, training, and educating Latine youth to tell their own stories and the stories of their communities. The Center provides a forum for exhibitions, distribution, convenings, and film screenings for art and media relevant to the many Latino communities in the American South.
